FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Yes, they are also suitable for puppies. You just need to be careful about the feeding amount.
Since our smoothie's are labeled as snacks, we don't add any purine to them. Our smoothies only contain the purine that occurs naturally in the foods we use. The purine content is so low that you don't need to consider it in a low-purine diet. SmoothieDog always contain only what they say they contain!
By deliberately omitting any additives, water, fat, and meat can settle, leaving the "heavier" portion at the bottom and the "lighter" portion at the top. Shake vigorously once, and the smoothie has the desired consistency and is ready to eat. 100% natural!

All smoothie's contain a very high meat content. Cooked and pureed meat always has a brownish-gray hue. We don't use any artificial colors—not even natural ones! Our cooking experiments and what we learned in our nutritionist training course made one thing very clear to us: To make a yellow smoothie from turmeric, the proportion must be so high that it could harm the dog! The same applies to "rosehip" for a reddish hue and "spirulina" for a green hue. The proportion required for an intense color effect is far, far too high for a dog's body. No amount of natural and healthy colorants can compete with the dominant color of freshly cooked meat—and that's a good thing! We focus on the content and the dog's health, not on pretty photos of yellow, red, and green smoothies. If you cook meat yourself, you get exactly the same color as our smoothie's and the color speaks for the 100% naturalness of SmoothieDog.
Every dog owner should choose the feeding method they feel is right for them and that suits their dog and their lifestyle. However, SmoothieDog dry food offer one key advantage: providing sufficient fluids! We recommend adding the SmoothieDog directly to the dry food. This will make your four-legged friend much more likely to enjoy their dry food, and you can be sure they've had enough to drink with their meal. IMPORTANT: Pour the smoothie onto the dry food well in advance and wait until the pellets have swelled to their full volume. A major problem with feeding dry food is that the pellets swell in the stomach. It has been proven that this process can lead to gastric torsion. SmoothieDog provide a good remedy for this, as your pet will eat the food at its "final" size.
We recommend feeding SmoothieDog and within approximately 18 months of production. Long-term studies and tests are currently being conducted. We completely avoid preservatives, additives, flavorings, sugar, and anything else dogs don't need! We deliberately avoid using binding agents such as locust bean gum or guar gum (frequently used by competitors), as these are also substances that dogs cannot use effectively. An opened smoothie should be refrigurated and consumed within three days.
Please always provide your furry friend with fresh water. If your dog is very lazy when it comes to drinking and you want to monitor and encourage their fluid intake, we recommend adding some SmoothieDog to their bowl to add flavor. This will turn even the laziest four-legged friend into the most diligent drinker.
Yes, SmoothieDog is gluten- and grain-free. We use healthy and important carbohydrates like parsnips and root parsley. In some varieties, we use the gluten-free protein sources amaranth, quinoa, and chia seeds.
And now for the technical explanation: All raw materials used are 100% human-grade at the time of processing. This means the meats, vegetables, fruits, herbs, and superfoods are perfectly suitable and approved for human consumption. We source our meats, fruits and vegetables directly from a farmer in the vicinity of our production facility. We completely avoid slaughterhouse waste and animal by-products of any kind.
